GMBA Youth In Action: This missionary program for young people began with a tour to the Fort Worth Mission in Texas in 1994. Since then, several week-long tours have been hosted by branches and missions throughout North America each summer. Tasks that take place on Youth in Action may include canvassing surrounding neighborhoods with flyers, holding singing-uplift meetings, remodeling church buildings, and visiting elderly or ill church members. Youth In Action is an opportunity for those young in the Gospel to serve the Lord throughout the week and to enjoy carrying out their labors alongside their peers, as they grow spiritually together.
Four years ago, the GMBA created the YIA Extended Tour to send a team to a branch or mission for an entire summer. These highly-focused tours are meant to have a large impact on a branch through daily efforts in spreading the Gospel and uplifting the local Saints. In 2006, the YIA started a new initiative to expand its sphere of influence to include weekend-long tours at the Area level that can take place not only in the summer, but throughout the year. Several of these have been held and have experienced great success with interest and enthusiasm on behalf of the young people.
